Trading the fast-paced London rush for the relaxed beauty of Victoria
If you had told me five years ago that I’d be splitting my life between the creative heart of Victoria and the sun-bleached coast of Southern Italy, I would have laughed.
Born and raised in London, I loved the energy of the UK. However, the expensive, fast-paced grind of city life was catching up to us. My wife and I desperately needed a change. We just didn’t know where that change would take us until we boarded a flight to Australia for a close friend’s wedding.
That single summer day changed the entire trajectory of our lives.
The Day Zonzo Estate Changed Everything
The wedding was held at Zonzo Estate in the Yarra Valley on a perfect, sun-drenched day. Coming from the moody, historic backdrops of London, walking onto this breathtaking vineyard completely blew me away. I was instantly captivated by the stunning, modern minimalist chapel.
The surrounding geography felt surreal. It was incredible to find such an expansive, beautiful countryside just an hour outside the city.
Looking out over the vines that day, my wife turned to me and suggested we take the plunge. We fell head over heels for the relaxed pace, the warmth of the people, and the sheer quality of life Melbourne offered. Because several close friends had already migrated here over the years, a big, ready-made community was already waiting for us. Six months later, we packed up our London lives and moved.

Embracing the Melbourne Lifestyle: Coffee, Wine, and Repeat
Four years later, we are completely settled. I can safely say our lifestyle now revolves around three things: eating, drinking, and drinking again.
Coming from the UK, the local coffee culture was a massive and welcome shock to the system. It remains one of my absolute favourite things about the city. When we aren’t working, you’ll usually find us exploring the local weekend markets. South Melbourne Market and Prahran Market are our go-to spots for fresh produce.
But our true weekend passion? Exploring Victoria’s world-class wine regions. I’ve made it my mission to visit Melbourne’s best cellar doors, which double as some of the most spectacular wedding venues in the world.
We love driving out to places like Jackalope Hotel on the Mornington Peninsula, with its dark, ultra-modern luxury. We also regularly visit the beautiful Montalto in Red Hill and Jack Rabbit Winery on the Bellarine Peninsula. Both are fantastic cellar doors and dream wedding backdrops. When we want a tasting, we escape to Soumah of the Yarra Valley (even if they annoyingly don’t host weddings for my couples!).
My Creative Shift as a Melbourne Wedding Photographer
Transitioning from shooting weddings in London to documenting love stories in Melbourne has been an incredible creative shift. London has iconic, historic venues, but there is something deeply special about the Melbourne wedding scene that you can’t find anywhere else in the world.
It comes down to the contrast. Within a short one-hour radius, you have access to gritty, architectural, chic city venues, premium world-class countryside estates, and some of the most breathtaking coastlines in the world. Being able to shoot a modern, editorial city elopement one weekend, a romantic vineyard wedding the next, and then find yourself capturing a coastal celebration along the rugged cliffs of the Great Ocean Road, the Mornington Peninsula, or the Bellarine Peninsula is an absolute dream. This incredible diversity of landscapes right on our doorstep keeps my creative eye completely sharp.

The Best of Both Worlds:
Today, I structure my year to shoot Melbourne weddings throughout the local summer season, from October to April. After that, I head back to Italy for the European summer wedding season, which runs from May to September.
To be honest, this cross-continental lifestyle was never the original plan. It just beautifully fell into place.Stepping into my role as a Melbourne wedding photographer has allowed me to spend half my year capturing love stories in Victoria’s finest spaces, and the other half beneath the olive groves of Puglia.
Let’s Create Together
Whether you are planning an elegant winery wedding in the Yarra Valley, a coastal celebration on the Mornington Peninsula, or a chic inner-city party, I understand your world as a local Melbourne wedding photographer. I bring an international, editorial perspective shaped by the streets of London and Europe, combined with a deep, local love for the lifestyle we now call home.
If you’re looking for a photographer who appreciates great wine, flawless coffee, and timeless, authentic imagery, I would love to chat about your day.
