A Photographer's Guide & Insider Venue Review

WEDDING AT SUNNYSIDE EVENTS

victoria / sunnyside events

Situated high above Mount Eliza, Sunnyside Estate is a historic 157-acre coastal property that recently opened as one of Victoria's newest and most impressive wedding venues. While the original homestead and vineyard date back to 1867, its recent transformation into a dedicated event space gives couples private access to a site that was hidden away for generations.

From my perspective as a wedding photographer, Sunnyside stands out immediately because of its scale and framing. The manicured grounds feature sprawling lawns, terraced gardens, and stone courtyards that drop off directly toward the ocean. Having your ceremony on the lawn, canapés in the Piazza, and reception in the Grand Hall happens seamlessly on a single address, giving us continuous access to unobstructed coastal views throughout the entire afternoon.

The venue

Sunnyside sits right at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula in Mount Eliza, roughly 50 minutes south of the Melbourne CBD. As a Melbourne wedding photographer, I love shooting here because it offers an immediate coastal change of pace without requiring long travel times for guests. It’s an easy run down the Peninsula Link, making it simple for guests to come down for the day or stay nearby in Mornington.  View my wedding portfolio →.

WHY I RECOMMEND SUNNYSIDE ESTATE

The elevation here produces what is easily one of the finest sea views of any venue in Victoria. Looking straight out across Port Phillip Bay toward the skyline, the water backdrop stays constant from your ceremony straight through to sunset.

Unmatched Sea Views Across Victoria

The landscaping is remarkably precise. Between the structured lawns, terraced garden beds, and wide stone paths, the property provides clean, uncluttered visual lines that make taking natural portraits effortless.

Exceptional Manicured Grounds

02

With the sun setting directly over the bay, golden hour at Sunnyside is hard to beat. Because the best viewpoints are right next to the reception space, we can step outside for 15 minutes at dusk, grab simple, striking portraits against the ocean, and get you right back to your party.

Straightforward Golden Hour Coverage

In my experience as a wedding photographer, Sunnyside Estate is easily one of the most memorable locations in the entire state. Combining 1800s history with a fresh opening, manicured grounds, and elite catering by Food & Desire, it delivers a rare mix of coastal scale and absolute privacy. If you want a high-end seaside venue close to Melbourne, it’s a property I always look forward to working at.

The Verdict: Why It’s Worth It

ABOUT ME

I’m a wedding photographer based between Melbourne, Australia and Puglia, Italy, working across two of the most beautiful wedding seasons in the world.

During the Australian summer, you'll find me photographing weddings across Melbourne, wider Victoria, and throughout Australia. For me, the magic always comes down to a connection-first approach. I care way more about getting to know you as a real couple so you can feel completely comfortable letting your guard down around the camera. My goal is simply to blend into the background of your day, catch those unscripted, "in-between" moments, and give you a final gallery that actually captures how your wedding felt.

Nice to meet you, I'm Tim
