Understanding the Puglian Way of Life
There is a distinct rhythm to life in Puglia. It’s in the slow crunch of gravel beneath your tires as you drive past centuries-old olive trees, the midday silence when the heat demands you pause, and the laughter that stretches long into the warm evening over a table overflowing with orecchiette and local wine. Experiencing this magic firsthand is exactly what inspired me to become a Puglia destination wedding photographer.
For many, Puglia is a dream vacation or a Pinterest board of sun-bleached stone and turquoise seas. But for me, it’s something much deeper. It’s family. It’s home.
If you are planning your wedding in this magical corner of Southern Italy, you aren’t just looking for someone to click a shutter. You want someone who understands the heartbeat of the region.
A Lockdown, a Leap of Faith, and the Road to Puglia
My connection to Puglia didn’t start with a travel brochure; it started with my wife.
Six years ago, we both lived in London, born and raised. We met in early 2020, exactly one month before the world changed and the first COVID-19 lockdown hit. Stripped of the usual dating timelines, we made a radical choice: we isolated together. It was a trial by fire that instantly cemented us. We haven’t spent a single day living apart since.
As soon as the world reopened, she took me to the place that shaped her: Puglia, where her family is from.

That first summer, I was completely captivated. To be honest, I had never even heard of Puglia before I met her! Coming from the fast-paced rush of London, the Puglian way of life was an antidote to everything I knew. I fell in love with the preservation of tradition, the fiercely local food, the warmth of her family, and the golden hour light that seems to linger just a little bit longer over towns like Ostuni and Polignano a Mare.
Every single year since we met, we have returned. It is our annual pilgrimage to slow down, reset, and immerse ourselves in the culture.
From London to Melbourne (With Puglia in Our Hearts)
Four years ago, our lives took another beautiful turn. We traveled all the way to Melbourne, Australia, for the wedding of very close friends. We instantly fell in love with the city’s creative energy, the coffee culture, and the open skies. Just six months later, my (now) wife decided we should take the ultimate plunge, and we moved here.
We have completely fallen in love with Melbourne, and today, I am proud to be a Melbourne wedding photographer, capturing love stories in one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
But even from the Southern Hemisphere, the pull of Southern Italy never faded.

We still return to Puglia every single year to be closer to friends and family. This lifestyle gives me the absolute best of both worlds: I get to photograph a beautiful Australian summer wedding season, and then head straight over to Europe to dive right into the European summer wedding season. It means we split our lives between the incredible creative backdrop of Melbourne and the timeless romance of the Italian summer, keeping my inspiration and eye completely sharp year-round.
The Best of Both Worlds: International Perspective, Local Knowledge
Planning an international destination wedding is a massive leap of faith. The biggest fear couples have is the logistical nightmare of hiring vendors from afar. Usually, you are forced to choose between a local Italian photographer (where language and stylistic differences can cause anxiety) or flying a photographer out from Australia or the UK (which blows out your budget with flights and accommodation).
When you work with me, you get the ultimate bridge: an international perspective with deep local knowledge.
Here is why working with a native English-speaking photographer who already lives the Puglian life changes everything for your wedding day:
- Zero Travel Stress & Added Costs: Because I split my seasons and am already on the ground in Italy for the European summer, you don’t need to fly me over or pay for my accommodation. You completely bypass the stressful worry of whether your photographer’s flight will get delayed or if they will arrive on time. I’m already there.
- Nothing Lost in Translation: Communication is everything. Having a native English speaker means we can discuss your vision, timeline, and vulnerabilities effortlessly, with no language barriers or misunderstandings.
- Navigating Cultural Differences: Every culture has its own nuances in style, mannerisms, and wedding pacing. Because I am married into an Italian family, I understand the local warmth and the flow of a traditional feast, but I also completely understand your world, your expectations, and the premium service standard you look for.
- True Local Nuances: I know how the sun falls across the masserie (farmhouses) in July. I can easily coordinate with local venue staff, and I won’t get lost on those winding, rural dirt roads.
Let’s Capture Your Story
Puglia isn’t just a backdrop for my portfolio. It is a piece of my history. It’s where my wife’s family roots run deep. It’s where I learned to appreciate the art of capturing moments that are raw, unhurried, and full of soul.
If you want a photographer who knows the shortcuts through the olive groves, let’s chat. I love the local food as much as you do. More importantly, I seamlessly understand both your world and Italian culture. Let’s create something timeless together in the Italian sun.
